An avalanche struck Sonamarg in central Kashmir late Tuesday night, but no casualties were reported.
In the Ganderbal district, an avalanche occurred at approximately 10.12 pm. CCTV footage from the area showed heavy snow cascading down and engulfing nearby buildings, illustrating how large the slide was.

The incident came a few days after authorities issued a high-danger avalanche warning for the region.

Officials had cautioned that avalanches were likely at higher altitudes following continuous snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir.
They had warned that areas above 2,300 metres in Ganderbal district were at risk over the next 24 hours.
Similar high-danger warnings were issued for zones above 2,500 metres in several districts of the Jammu region, including Poonch, Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban, as well as Kupwara in north Kashmir.
Officials urged residents and travellers to remain cautious and avoid movement in such areas Most parts of the Union territory have received moderate to heavy snowfall over the past 24 hours, increasing the risk of snow slides in higher reaches.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored as weather conditions continue to affect the region.
